CAKE is happy to announce that Keiler Roberts will be a Special Guest for CAKE 2015. Keiler has been a major force in the Chicago comics community through her prolific comics production, as well as through teaching at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and DePaul University. Her autobiographical comic Powdered Milk has received three Ignatz Award nominations and was included in The Best American Comics 2014 Notables List. Her work has been published in The Chicago Reader, Mutha Magazine, and Newcity. She was a special guest at the 2013 Chicago Zine Fest, a panelist at CAKE 2011, and her performance at Brain Frame 14 had the whole room laughing. You can view it here. You can also find out more on her website, Tumblr, or Twitter, or learn about her from this interview with Jason Love or this review by Rob Clough.
CAKE’s organizers have been fans of Keiler’s work for quite some time. Her comics are insightful and hilarious, and her abundant and consistently excellent comics production is representative of what makes Chicago a great town for comics. We’re thrilled to see that others are beginning to recognize the talent that we’ve seen in Keiler for years, and we hope that as a special guest at CAKE 2015, her influence will grow deservingly as she gains even more fans.
