The Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (CAKE) will be holding its 4th annual art auction fundraiser at 7:00 pm on Friday, April 8th, at the The Hideout Inn, located at 1354 W Wabansia Ave. The event will be hosted by intermedia artist Lyra Hill. The event will feature live and silent auctions of over 20 pieces of art by past special guests and exhibitors of CAKE, including Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez, Eleanor Davis, and Dash Shaw. The event will also feature live comics readings by local artists Samuel Nigrosh, Molly Colleen O’Connell, and Isabella Rotman.
Lyra Hill is a multidisciplinary artist and curator living in Chicago. Between 2011-2014, she founded and organized the legendary performative-comix reading series Brain Frame. She exhibits her films, performances, and comics internationally and across the US. She is currently hosting and producing a weekly radio interview show called Magic Chats. This is Lyra’s fourth year as a live auctioneer for CAKE.
Samuel Nigrosh is a local Chicago glumper and sole proprietor of Sun Eater Studios. He’s also the Editor & Publisher of Trash City & all around peach of a guy. Very approachable.- http://suneaterstudio.com/

The Chicago Alternative Comics Expo [CAKE] is a weekend-long celebration of independent comics, inspired by Chicago’s rich legacy as home to many of underground and alternative comics’ most talented artists– past, present and future.
