The exhibitor application for the 2012 Chicago Alternative Comics Expo has closed. Thanks to everyone who applied! We received almost 200 applications by folks from all over the country. We’re going to spend January sifting through everything, and hopefully come out in February with a really exciting exhibitor list!
The exhibitor application for 2012 Chicago Alternative Comics Expo is now closed. Thanks to all who applied!
CAKE is a curated show. Exhibitors will be selected by members of the Chicago alternative comics community based on submitted applications. CAKE strongly encourages comics creators at all skill levels to apply for table space, and we will respond to every application.
Table space units are 3′ long by 30″ wide. An exhibitor fee of $50 will be paid by exhibitors selected by CAKE.
The deadline for registration is January 1st, 2012. Initial exhibitor selection will take place during the month of January, and all applicants will be notified of their status for CAKE 2012 by the end of January. Applications will be accepted after January 1st, but will only be considered after those who submitted before the deadline.
Terms and conditions provided in the registration form should clarify other questions, but any further inquiries should be directed to us through our contact page.
Over the next days and weeks, we’ll be announcing publishers and special guests who have already signed on to be at the show. We are sure you will be as excited as we are.
Save the date! We are excited to announce the debut of the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (or “CAKE” for short) in the summer of 2012! Taking place June 16th and 17th at Columbia College’s Ludington Building, CAKE is focused on celebrating independent and alternative comics of all stripes.
The festival plans to feature over 100 exhibitors along with a two-day program of signings, panels, workshops and lectures. With Chicago’s long legacy as a stronghold for underground and alternative comics, the Windy City is an ideal locale to showcase some of the most wild, weird and wonderful contemporary comics talent.
Later this month we’ll be unveiling our website (www.cakechicago.com) and publicity images designed by Laura Park. Potential exhibitors can look for our show application and guidelines to be available around Halloween and we’ll be periodically announcing special guests and events as CAKE draws closer.
Until then: make your travel plans, draw that new comic you were thinking of, and try to contain your eager anticipation! See you next summer!
