Lars Martinson is a Minnesotan cartoonist. He has lived in Japan on four separate occasions totaling more than a decade, including a two year stint studying East Asian calligraphy as a Monbukagakusho scholar. These experiences shaped his three volume graphic novel “Tonoharu”, a story that explores the joys and frustrations of living in Japan as a foreigner. Lars’ work has been featured in Entertainment Weekly and the Wall Street Journal, and has been translated into French and Spanish. He currently lives in Minneapolis.
